The Old Tree
The old tree standing alone in a large West Texas ranch looks forward to the late summer thunderstorms that gives renewed life to it and the arid alpine desert! A large tree like this one is non-existent in West Texas because there is generally not of enough annual moisture to sustain it. However, in this case the old rancher planted this tree next to a windmill and water trough which had an over flow pond. Between the brief rain storms and the small pond, the tree thrived in the mineral rich desert!
